Coach Deets is an amazing coach and person. He is knowledgeable and dedicated. Very few people have tried the hands on approach with coaching me. Coach Deets never shied away. He is one of the people that has helped to build my love for jiu-jitsu.

I signed my quite, shy and reserved 5 year old daughter up with deets ju jitsu in hopes she could learn to protect herself. What I got back in a months time is an outgoing, polite, respectful and confident girl. She has improved leaps and bounds. Words truly do fall short when describing what students can learn from Instructor Deets. I am so proud of my daughter and I know I will continue to bring her to deets ju jitsu so she can grow even more. Thank you Coach Deets for all you do!!!

I can not say enough good things about Coach Deets and all he does!! My daughter was shy and since starting class she is slowly getting out of her shell. She loves to go to class and loves to go home and tell everyone about what she learned in class. I think it is perfect to teach kids respect and discipline as well as self defense and just all around have fun!! I do not have to make her go to class, she has so much fun that she wants to go to class. Coach is so good with the kids and has tons of patience. I am so happy to be part of his jiu jitsu academy. Thank you Coach Deets!!

Having recently trained with Robert in a very intensive 3-ay ICCS-Israeli Contact Combat System Instructor course, I can declare that Robert is one of the most skilled & capable warriors that I've ever trained with! He is humble, kind-hearted, and has a great sense of humor but, when it's "gloves on"...he can bring it!
You won't go wrong training at Deets Jiu-Jitsu Acacemy with Robert!

Life Skills Talk:)

This month at the gym,  we are reviewing respect. The first week I handed out a worksheet. The worksheet is a wonderful way to get the kids encouraged to show respect and put to use what we teach at Gladiator Underground outside of the gym. The following is what we go over, and parents are encouraged to use it as well;

Respect is doing what’s asked of us, trying hard, saying yes sir, no sir, yes
maam , no maam. Showing respect at home to our families is a very important
part of lives at home. One of the best ways of showing this respect is to be a first
time listener. Learning to do what’s asked of us the right way right away is a critical part of us being respectful. For one consistent week practice first time listening at home.”

I know as a parent it can get pretty frustrating telling your child the same thing over and over again. That is why we are teaching them to be first time listeners. Giving them a simple saying like “right away the right way” is easy for your child to understand. It’s also a great way for you to remind them of what they learned when their listening starts to fall back on old habits.

More on respect next week and I look forward to seeing you on the mats!
